The police is a difficult issue for refugees.<\/p>\n

It protects all people equally, whether refugee or German, rich or poor!
\nWhenever you are in need, you should call immediately the emergency number 110. This is also possible with mobile phones. Policemen are always friendly and helpful, if you treat them with respect and kindness.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>

The police makes sure that everyone keeps to the laws! Precisely because the police fulfills such an important role in democracy, it is checked very carefully when there are complaints against the police. Everyone in Germany is considered innocent until a court has found fault in a lawsuit. No one has to blame himself or testify against close family members.<\/p>\n

In no case can you compare them to the police from the refugees’ countries of origin.<\/p>\n

Communication is hard enough for a foreigner. Everyone has heard of cases where, as a result of bad official interpreters, the asylum procedure was decided negatively or the procedure could only be resumed with great difficulty. A very good interpreter is also important in communicating with the police.<\/p>\n

Talking is silver, but silence is gold.<\/p>\n

If you get an invitation to the police, because they want to know something about a case, that’s seen legaly, mostly just a friendly request. However, these letters are always written in such a way that one believes that one would be forced to go there! That’s wrong!
\nEven when the police is visiting you, you do not have to talk to them. The police may only force to be allowed into the home, if they have the search warrant of a court or if there is an actual danger present.<\/p>\n

In all cases you have to keep calm and should call a lawyer. The lawyer gets the job to settle the matter. The laws are very complicated, lawyers are professionals and make sure you do not make mistakes. In addition, attorneys will instantly request file inspection, which means they’ll find out immediately what the police know and the lawyer gets all the important information. The lawyer also advises you on how to proceed.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>
